Most construction sites require at least a few banners in vinyl or mesh. Here, we explain the main differences between them, and what circumstances they are best suited to.
Mesh Banners
Mesh banners have small holes (wind vents) throughout them which let the wind pass through. This makes them a safer choice than opaque banners, such as vinyl, for outside locations that are high up on buildings or affixed to cranes. Usually, mesh banners have a matte finish and are made in a large-scale format so they can be seen from a distance. Mesh banners can be custom printed to display your logo and images and lettering of your choice. The holes in mesh banners make them somewhat transparent, so the print is not as bold or vibrant as it is on vinyl. Their transparency also means they can be printed only on one side, Mesh banners work best when used to display minimal information such as the developer’s name and logo or the name of the construction project. They are also often used to identify cranes, e.g. crane 1, crane 2, etc. Mesh banners can be attached to a variety of structures, including scaffolding and chain-link fences. For added safety, Arteest’s mesh banners have a two-inch-wide perimeter made from tough seat belt material to help ensure that even with strong gusts, the banner does not rip or break free.
Vinyl Banners
Vinyl banners can be used indoors and outdoors, but are not recommended for windy locations as they are opaque with no wind vents. Vinyl banners are glossy and luxurious looking and display colour, lettering and images beautifully. Vinyl banners can be printed on both sides and are an excellent choice for trade shows and conferences.
